Overview
The CMU is part of a worldwide data link infrastructure over a variety of data link media such as a VHF subnetwork, a Satellite Communications (SATCOM) subnetwork, and an HF subnetwork which provides seamless availability between the airborne end systems and their peer ground-Airline Operational Communication (AOC), such as Out, Off, On, and In reports (OOOI), or Air Traffic Services (ATS) such as Automatic Terminal Information for Pilots (ATIS), Automatic Dependent Surveillance (ADS), or Controller-Pilot Data Link Communications(CPDLC). The CMU is primarily intended for Air Transport/Regional airline operations, and the 737 BBJ aircraft (complimenting our AFIs system designed for the Business and General Aviation market).
